Valentine’s Day

Valentines+Day

Valentines commonly depict Cupid, the Roman god of love, along with hearts, traditionally the seat of emotion. Love of all kind is beautiful and thus, needs to be celebrated. Valentine’s Day is celebrated to pay a tribute to Saint Valentine who defied the emperor’s orders and secretly married couples to spare the husbands from war. Valentine’s Day celebrates the bond and the relationship between people.

So, on this Valentine’s Day, if you do not have a girlfriend or a boyfriend, do not start to feel sad. If you embrace your singleness, awesome – get out there and treat yourself. But if you feel a bit depressed and lonely, it’s a good idea to talk to a friend or family member. Remember to practice your self-care, make the day a spa day and relax. Even if that’s not your thing simply just have a movie marathon. According to many singles they’d rather spend the day with friends anyway. Love between friends is important too. It is a day which teaches us how we should express our love, care and respect for anyone who is significant in our life. It helps us to feel happy about our loved ones. It also shows us the importance of happiness we feel when we are around the ones who matter to us. Take this from personal experiences: you don’t need a valentine for it to be special. Treat yourself! For many Valentine’s Days I have bought myself chocolate and many cute stuffed animals. Let’s all be honest: chocolate doesn’t last very long and we all eventually lose or forget about stuffed animals. You should never feel embarrassed to be alone on Valentine’s Day because honestly, it’ll save you money in the long run.

Traditional gifts include candy and flowers, particularly red roses, a symbol of beauty and love. Even so, many girls may not like roses so instead find out her favorite flower instead. And girls, don’t be scared to give your boyfriend flowers even if it may not mean as much to him. Any gift can be meaningful so you don’t have to be extravagant. Even a card with something nice written in it and chocolate is enough. And let us tell you, Amazon can be your best friend. Many people may just want something they can use on a daily basis. Plus, you can also hand-made a gift. Remember a gift doesn’t have to be expensive: it’s supposed to come from the heart. Make your own Valentine’s or small handmade gifts and present them to the people in your life who matter. This isn’t always just a lover or partner — this can be members of your own family, friends, etc. Simply just make the day enjoyable for you!
