In William J. Palmer High School one of the main values they teach the students are life skills. We have a program called the IBYMP program. This program challenges not only high education level skills that students can put towards their actions, but also uses the rubric most teachers’ feedback is based on.
Mrs. Owens, a leader in the program, has been working in this program for 3 years and her favorite part about the program is that it not only provides education and opportunities for students but it also helps with graduation rates and increased averages.
All freshmen in our school get a required class called Terror TRCCS that gives the freshman an idea of the different life skills in the IBYMP rubric, and how to apply them. There are many Terror TRCCS teachers. For example, our personal favorite, Mrs.Raitz-Anderson. Mrs. Raitz is a very dedicated teacher and helps kids with all of her capability.
Mrs. Raitz has been working at PHS for three years now with much experience as an English teacher. In Mrs. In Raitz’s experience, she loves the risk taking challenges the program comes with, and appreciates the different skills, such as communication and social, kids use to apply to not only education but manners as well.
For this article we used Mrs. Raitz and Mrs. Owens as sources to get our information.
