When I think of Palmer I think of diversity. The Groupo Hispanidads is a group of teenagers that highlights the Hispanic culture in Palmer by dancing in assemblies.
The teacher behind this group is Ana Maria Pedrie. Hispanic culture is very exciting. Mrs. Pedrie stated, “I created this group to show Hispanic culture to Palmer’s community.”
At the performance during the Homecoming assembly,the audience clapped along, cheered, and danced along with them. The group finally shined a light on the Hispanic culture at Palmer. Ms. Pedrie said,” People were excited about the fact I and Groupo Hispanidads expressed the Hispanic culture at Palmer.” As a Palmer student, I want every ethnicity to be seen at Palmer.
I asked Groupo Hispanidads Andrea how it feels to be part of a group that impacts the Hispanic community at Palmer. “I feel happy to be in it because I get to express my culture through dance. I get to show off my roots through this group. We make an impact on the Palmer community. We represent the Hispanic community at Palmer. We make a name for every Hispanic at Palmer.” She is happy to be in the group to express her roots and make an impact on the community.
