Instagram vs. Snapchat: Which one is your favorite? We asked some of our peers what they like more Instagram vs. Snapchat. Some students are worried about safety, how popular the apps are, and the features of both apps.
A few of our Palmer students don’t use Snapchat because they believe it’s not safe. Some of these concerns are being swindled, location sharing, and inappropriate pictures being shared.
Sage Sweum had this to say about the safety on Snapchat. “I don’t like using Snapchat because it’s very scary having your location shared and the possibility of being scammed.” She then added, “Another reason I dislike Snapchat is because of how inappropriate images and get sent and shared around.”
Other Palmer students enjoy Instagram for the features it has. Some of these features are the notes that can be posted, the Livestream option, and the block button.
Alisia had this to say about liking Instagram because of all the features. “[Instagram] is not like Snapchat. Snapchat does have some features, but Instagram has way more. My favorite is the notes feature.”
Overall, the Palmer student’s do favor Instagram over Snapchat, whether that be the difference between their features or safety. One of the bigger reasons is because of how much Instagram has grown in popularity compared to Snapchat, which has been on a steady downward trend at Palmer, according to the students interviewed.
Gwenyth had this to say about the popularity of Instagram compared to Snapchat: “I personally like Instagram more because most of my friends have it, I can be able to send videos, text, and pictures. I only really use Snapchat to see where my friends are so I can meet up with them.”
