There are many new students and teachers at Palmer this year. I interviewed Mrs. Shoemaker to get her perspective on entering our Palmer community.
Mrs. Shoemaker teaches speech and debate/forensics, freshman English, and junior’s Language and Literature here at Palmer.
“I was a student teacher last year which I really enjoyed and I’m happy to be back here.” Mrs. Shoemaker said when I asked her how many years she’s been teaching. This is her first year as a licensed teacher. “I was a student teacher for Mrs. Hook, and funny story she was also my high school teacher.”
Palmer is a place that welcomes everyone of any background. We want students and teachers alike to be included in our community. “Everyone has a different story. Everybody comes from a different place, and it’s so cool to see different perspectives come together to work together in reading and writing.”
The teachers here at Palmer deeply care about their students and genuinely want every single one of them to succeed in life.
“I have started making our country names, and we made rules for our countries and punishments if you broke those rules. One of the punishments was death by watermelon.” Mrs. Shoemaker said when I asked her one of her favorite memories with her students.
Along with teaching, Mrs Shoemaker runs the crochet club here at Palmer along with Mrs. Boone. If you want to learn more about crochet club or Mrs. Shoemaker, email at her school email: @[email protected]
