Student Council, better known as StuCo, is a group of students elected to serve as a representative voice for the student body and help organize school activities. The student council advocates for student interests, organizes school events, and serves as a link between school administration and students to illustrate not only school spirit but also community. How does the student body feel about our student leadership?
A non-StuCo member was interviewed to get their insight, perspective and opinions on StuCo and how it impacts their Palmer High School experience.
Sophomore, Gabriana Simms (Gabi), when asked if she thinks StuCo is aware of how they’re perceived by the student body, replied, “StuCo is a fun bunch of people dedicated to the school, and I believe they make an effort to connect with the students of Palmer and be perceived as fun and as a leader.“
StuCo is a democratic platform to give students a chance to have strong leadership and a chance to voice their opinions; every student should have a say but not every student does.
Does Gabi have any desire to run for StuCo in the future? “Maybe. It looks like fun and a way to support your school. If you’re not involved in your school, it’s a good way to become involved.”
