Why Drugs?

You might have seen this Fentanyl and drug awareness poster around campus. Fentanyl is one of the most dangerous drugs in the world. Since April 2021, there has been a spike of fentanyl cases. In 2021 alone, there were 5,900 deaths caused from overdose.  

There was a Fentanyl death at Micthell High School in 2022. Is it at Palmer High School? “Things happen or break for a reason, don’t go for the drug, keep going forward.” Ms. Wilson Student accounting at Palmer High School states.  

   

Fentanyl can be passed off as Halloween candy. Leah Leyba assistant nurse at Mental Strong quotes that, “Fentanyl is the deadliest drug threat that our community has ever faced. Hello fentanyl, Goodbye world. “ 

This drug is more common than you think it could be laced in anything. “You never really know what you’re taking” Cami Wolkow student at Palmer High School says.         

  

  Fentanyl is 100 times more potent than morphine, (the second deadliest drug), Data at University of Boulder shows, that fentanyl is so potent one kilogram has the potential to kill 500,000 people. In the last year over 40 percent of overdoses have increased.  

United States Attorney’s Office states that, on March 16th, 2022, there was a death at Mitchell high school that was very devastating, and now the D11 community is finding ways to spread more worldwide awareness to the dangers of fentanyl and hopefully save more lives.  

More than 1,000 deaths have happened in Colorado in 2022 and have grown over the last year.  Drug use is becoming a problem, and our community is trying to stop this. 

Overall, this proves that fentanyl is one of the most dangerous drugs in the world and our community is trying to spread more worldwide awareness.
